That classic REM song is my yang to the Good mornin' yin. Today that's the song that's been going through my head. Ongoing staff issues at the paying job, staff who have major family problems that are causing lot's of pain, maddening winds, lost keys...Calgon take me away!
Or, better yet...let's pop another loaf in the oven! On days like this, I take a slightly longer lunch, crank up the oven as high as it will go, and prepare another banneton of sourdough. Loaves are fine - bread of life stuff - but banneton (wicker bread forms) formed bread sings to me. All of you lazy readers, don't skip the opportunity to click on these pics and see how beautiful bread is. This is what I needed to take a sad song and make it brighter (geez, I fit in one more musical reference...not too bad!).

The revived starter is taking on a life of its own, heh :)
I hope we get to see your guiness cake soon, Rob :)
Oh that guiness cake was a mess. Life is such a mess right now and it seems to be everyone in town is in a state of chaos - we all really believe its the winds. This seems to happen once or twice a year.
Anyway, the cake was good tasting, but I forgot to insert the panna cotta filling when I assembled the cake. Then I figured I would put it on top before I sprayed the whole cake with white chocolate. But then I forgot to do that too, so I just plopped it on the top of the finished cake. UGLY!...but tasty. If I build the courage I'll post a pic.
WOAH. I'm seriously jealous of you. Not only because you made that gorgeous bread, but because you get to EAT it. The crackly, dark crust looks so heavenly! What kind of oven did you use?
Its our cheap and nasty oven - electric, but lined with two baking stones - one for heat dispersion and one for the bottom of the bread.
