Do Not Disturb (the new Alinea book is here!)

I'm giddy as a 6th grade school girl at a Jonas Brothers Concert! My autographed, limited edition version of the brand spankin' new Alinea cookbook is here. Did I say "cookbook"!? How about shrine to all things that food aspire to be book. You can see that someone (Tyler) already put there grubby paws on the cover, but I'll be spending the next 10 years of my life reading and practicing these amazing recipes.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, check out the Alinea website or our blog entry on our dinner there last year.

Better than Harry Potter, huh? Oh wait...did you even read them? And Tyler is just like Simon. Grubby paws. Heh.

Oh! I actually saw that for $50 at Borders. I was sorely tempted to buy it but realistically there's no way I would ever have the resources (tools, ingredients) to put together one recipe, even if the prospect of having the skill excites me. I suppose that is not a problem for you at all, so I think I'll just live vicariously through you :)

Hmmm, Alinea is in Chicago, right? Now, if I were to be accepted into Rush Hospital... (evil grin)

I'm jealous Rob, my copy hasn't arrived yet. Between the Alinea book, the Fat Duck book, Albert Adria's Natura and Johnny Iuzzini's Dessert FourPlay this will be a busy winter. Every minute I'm not cooking at work or sleeping, I'll be learning and playing. Sleep's overrated anyway.

Yes, better than Harry Potter!

And Mark - I sent you white powders in little plastic bags...so get to work!

T2C - Between this book and the new Art of Eating...I'll be in lockdown for quite some time.
